| Welcome to Taverna Plaka, Neighborhood of the Gods, Atlanta's one and only true Greek Tavern. "Taverna" is the Greek word for tavern and is similar to an English pub...not just a restaurant or a bar, but BOTH - with entertainment, dancing and music! How should you act at a Taverna? Well, generally you gather with friends and family at Taverna Plaka to eat, drink, converse, laugh, dance and party! So, have fun, enjoy and share your plate with a friend. What is the Plaka? It is Athens' oldest and most colorful neighborhood. It is at the heart of the city and as you walk down its stone-paved, narrow streets, you feel as if you've traveled back in time - experiencing first-hand the history of the Athens and its people.
Steeped in tradition and mythology, the Plaka is known as "the neighborhood of the Gods" where according to the ancient Greeks, the Gods would join the mere Athenian mortals at local taverna for a night of eating, drinking and dancing. Join in the celebration as you feast on a variety of Méze and celebrate Dionysus - the Greek God of Wine - with our selection of Greek wines.
